Dear ,
In March I wrote about humans and trees and this month I want to share with you some reflections on humans and flowers.
As often, my inspiration came on a walk with my dog Yari a couple of weeks ago. In just a short time I saw different, tiny, beautiful flowers and wouldn't I have walked through the park with my eyes wide open, I wouldn’t have spotted them.
I was thinking, how easy it is for our eyes to be attracted to the big, striking, colorful flowers. It feels like they are shouting our loud “look at me, how beautiful I am”. This is how they catch our attention and make us forget about their inconspicuous fellow beings.
But when we take our time to detect and discover the tiny flowers, we realize that also they are miracles in themselves, in no way inferior to the others in their beauty and the joy they are giving us. The only difference is that we have to go through nature with open eyes and we have to be careful to not step onto them.
These two kinds of flowers reminded me a lot of us humans.
There are the ones going through the world with a “loud voice”. They appear in a way that attracts us, like the big flowers. They are confident, they show what they have achieved, how important and successful they are. And often we feel drawn to them because they seem to be able to change our life to the better.
Then there are the ones, who speak a silent language. They contribute to the world in many different ways, supporting others, being present, simply offering their service. We might overlook them and not acknowledge them enough, just like the tiny flowers.
Maybe in this month of May we can pay a special attention to our beautiful human fellows that are “low-voiced” and offer their service in a silent and humble way. I am sure, we will have amazing encounters.
And I want to end this newsletter sending my affection to all the beautiful “silent” human flowers out there: May you become aware that you are as amazing and important as the “loud” ones.
In the spirit of love and reconciliation
