Dear ,
The inspiration for this newsletter came through one the participants that joined my last workshop “A Date with my Inner Child”. It was such a beautiful realization that I simply had to share it with you.
One of the exercises we did, was to sit in front of a mirror and meet our inner child through our eyes. Just sitting there and looking in our own eyes, not our hair, not our nose, not whatever part of us, only connecting to ourselves through our eyes. Before this exercise I played the song “True colors” and I invited everyone to find their true colors within themselves.
Of course, there was space for sharing the experiences after the exercise and one participant said: “All of a sudden, I could see the whole universe in my eyes. And although on the one hand it was such a beautiful experience, on the other hand it brought up the question “who am I?” and that was scary."
I think this is a question that many of us are asking and trying to find out through all kinds of different paths.
But in that very moment of the workshop suddenly, the answer was so clear: “I am A universe” – and maybe we could even say “I am THE universe”. Both feels right for me as it feels there is no difference.
Can we ever know universe? Of course not, as we are not able to know something that is infinite. So if inside of each of us is a universe or if we ourselves are a universe – is it ever possible to get to know ourselves to the extent be able to define who we are? Of course not!
And with this insight the search of knowing who we are becomes an infinite and futile endeavor. It is always directed to a result, to the one and final answer, to expectations. And whatever we discover will not bring us happiness and peace.
As universe is ever changing and yet always staying the same, such are we. So, what if we changed our perspective? If we just looked with an open, curious, and excited inner posture at this universe that we are?
We would see our beauty, our endlessness, our light and our shadow. We would understand that today we are already different from what we were yesterday. And that tomorrow again there can be a new me, if we allow it and don’t hold on to rigid ideas and expectations. Not by trying to change ourselves, but by discovering every day a bit more whilst acknowledging and agreeing to the ultimate impossibility to find an answer to “who am I”.
There is a German children’s song that says “May makes everything new and your soul fresh and free” – so may this month free you from expectations and allow you to discover the wonder of the universe within you.
In the spirit of love and reconciliation
