Dear ,
Thank you for enjoying my newsletters.
This month I would like to share with you another beautiful learning experience that was gifted to me by our dog Yari.
Yari and I have developed a very close connection during the past 8 years. On our walks in the park, he usually loves sniffing around and meeting other dogs. But sometimes he reacts grumpy and starts growling.
Recently I realized that his reactions have a lot to do with my inner posture and attitude. When I am really relaxed and can feel my inner smile, he is relaxed, too. When I get tense because I am worried that he might be stressed with a jumping puppy or be afraid of another bigger dog, it is very likely that he starts growling and gets in a defense mode.
In the past I tried to stop him by telling him off or calling his name. Of course, without success. Lately I realized that he calms down immediately when I take a deep breath and let go of my tension.
This does not only make our walks more relaxed, but it also creates so much awareness of myself and of what’s going on around me.
Thinking about this silent communication between me and him, made me also think about the fact that this is the way we all communicate with each other.
It is not so much the words that we say, but it is our inner posture and the inner images that we have. How often are we not aware of all this and we wonder about the direction our communication takes and about the outcomes.
Maybe just take a moment and reflect upon last week or yesterday or maybe today – how was your inner posture during your communication with others? Have you ever tried it out consciously what a difference it makes when we are internally calm and happy with ourselves? When we meet others with an open heart and a smile?
And then I was thinking: What about our communication with life itself? What a difference does it make if we encounter and meet life with a deep breath, an open heart and an inner smile instead of stress, tension and worried inner pictures?
Of course, sometimes we still encounter grumpy, aggressive and arrogant people, just like Yari still meets naughty and grumpy other dogs. But with a deep outbreath and a smile we will look at them, turn around and just go our way, ready for new beautiful experiences.
I wish you a month of March with many beautiful moments in the spirit of love and reconciliation.
