Dear ,
In our modern days there is a lot of talking about finding our “life purpose” and many people come to me asking for help to find theirs.
Whenever I choose a representative for the “life purpose” in a constellation, it never unveils itself in terms of showing what exactly it is. The dynamic that we usually witness is that the client is somehow not able to connect due to entanglements or hidden loyalties or simply because of the resistance to acknowledge the parents as the right ones.
The more I am allowed to witness these dynamics, the more I understand that it is not about “finding” but about “connecting”. And today I would say that “through connecting with life we give our life a purpose”.
What happens when we try to find something? We begin to search for it and often we put our whole focus on this search - especially if we believe that there is that “one” thing, that “one” life purpose, that we have to find.
We might run our whole life after something not even knowing what it is with the result that – in the end – we look back frustrated of not having found what we have been looking for.
Another illusion that we might have is to expect that the “life purpose” has to be something extraordinary or special. I remember after one of the constellations, when the position of the “life purpose” was unveiled, the client saying: “But is looks so normal”.
And this brings me to the “puzzle”. The more I reflect on it, the more I feel that life is like a puzzle – our own personal one. To put together the single pieces of the puzzle we need patience, calmness, thoughtfulness and attention.
When we try to put a piece of the jigsaw into a place where it does not fit, we put it aside for later. We don’t try desperately to “make it fit” because we know that it does not make sense at this moment in time. We might focus on those pieces that are easier to match, maybe starting at the total opposite side of the puzzle.
By patiently putting the pieces together, step by step, we create something. Not searching for the final picture but knowing that we will see this final picture at the end of the process.
And it is the same with life. When we do our steps, gently, slowly, consciously, knowing that some of these steps might be just simple, unspectacular, and even boring, when we allow our life’s process to unfold at its own pace, then, eventually, our life’s purpose will unveil itself to us, maybe sooner than we expected.
May the month of March allow you to connect deeper with the puzzle of your life.
In the spirit of love and reconciliation
